Director or Manager of M&A
Location: Remote (West Coast preferred; California ideal)
Position Overview
- We are seeking a highly driven Director or Manager of M&A to support and execute on the company’s acquisition-led growth strategy within the fast-growing dental services sector. As a PE-backed organization, this role will play a critical part in evaluating, structuring, and executing acquisitions across orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, and oral surgery.
- This is a senior individual contributor role with significant ownership across the transaction lifecycle, frequent interaction with senior leadership, and a hands-on focus in a high-volume, execution-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deal Evaluation & Execution
- Lead financial analysis, valuation, and underwriting of acquisition opportunities, including building and reviewing complex financial models.
- Analyze historical and projected financials to identify key risks, opportunities, and value drivers.
- Support deal structuring, purchase price mechanics, financing considerations, and transaction negotiations.
- Transaction Management
- Manage end-to-end diligence processes, coordinating with third-party advisors (legal, transaction diligence, tax, lenders) and internal stakeholders (operations, finance, integration, financial sponsor and Board of Directors).
- Prepare acquisition materials including investment memos, LOIs, board presentations, and lender packages.
- Drive transactions from initial evaluation through closing, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and quality standards are met.
- Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and transaction activity to inform strategic decision-making.
- Partner closely with operations, finance, and integration teams to assess post-close integration considerations and value creation initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted execution partner to senior leadership on transaction-related analyses and recommendations.
Qualifications
- 4 to 8+ years of experience in M&A, corporate development, transaction advisory services, or transaction diligence; experience in DSOs, dental, or healthcare services is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience supporting or leading transactions across the full deal lifecycle.
- Advanced financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of executive- and board-level materials.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CPA and/or CFA is a plus.
